Operations Department

The Operations Unit performs a critical role in the accomplishment of the JRCC’s goals and objectives. It is operated on a 24/7 basis and focuses on providing quality service throughout to Law Enforcement, Border Control and Intelligence Agencies of the countries comprising the Member States.

This Unit acts as the nerve centre of the JRCC by collecting Advance Passenger Information (API) from all Aviation and Maritime carries on all persons travelling to, through and out of the Region. This information is security vetted hence ensuring the safety of all travelers and the security of our borders.

On a daily basis the operation unit receives support requests from Law Enforcement Agencies across the region to ensure that there are no security breaches and the Region’s borders are protected against criminal elements.

The unit works cohesively with the Compliance and Quality Assurance Units at the Centre to ensure that aviation and maritime carriers operate in accordance with the Advance Passenger Legislation making it possible to realize the Centre’s current mandate.

It also act as a support mechanism for aviation and maritime carriers ensuring that the integrity and quality of data transmitted to the Centre is in keeping with the established API requirements and where necessary provide assistance in utilizing the web services applications available to them.

In addition, the Operations Unit performs the following daily functions:

  • Serves as the focal point of communication between Regional and International Law Enforcement Agencies
  • Facilitates the timely dissemination of information to Regional and International Law Enforcement Agencies
  • Identify System and Carriers Errors and take the necessary steps to correct these errors
  • Adheres to established Standard Operating Procedures.
