QUALITY ASSURANCE
Quality Assurance (QA), is the set of planned and systematic actions necessary to provide appropriate confidence that a product or service will satisfy the requirements for quality. It also consists of a means of monitoring the Advanced Passenger Information (API) software and hardware engineering processes and methods used to ensure quality. It does this by means of audits of the quality management system under which the Advanced Passenger information System application process was created.
Quality assurance applies to all forms of products and services of the Joint Regional Communications Centre (JRCC). Our mottos are “fit for operations” and “ensure accuracy the first time”, which includes the regulation of the quality of assemblies, products and components, services related to production, management, and inspection processes.
The QA Department is one which conducts validation testing of applications and processes within the JRCC and throughout the Member States. In doing so we randomly submit files and force errors to ensure that processes are functioning as should and validation and error handling are taking place.
The QA department also performs stress tests of the network and application.
We interact with user to assist with troubleshooting the application on a daily basis. Doing this provides the QA department an opportunity to receive user feedback on issues and resolutions.
The above methods form the basis from which Quality Assurance has evolved and the achievement of quality is “Quality Awareness” throughout the organization. This is accomplished through the following processes:
- Serves as an agency supporter on APIS application to carriers.
- Serves as the primary point of contact for quality management of APIS and passenger processing.
- Randomly monitor systems to ensure an electronic APIS manifest of passenger and crew was transmitted for arriving or departing carriers.
- Randomly collect and check data from various databases.
- Develop methods and reports to measure the activities of carriers.
- Identifies patterns and trends, analyze results, prepare and recommend solutions to improve carrier performance and operations.
- Participates in the review of user requirements to establish and modify APIS enhancements.
- Conducts Random System Checks
- Test new and existing applications.
- Troubleshoot application system problems.
- Troubleshoot APIS Transmission errors.
- Ensure that Standard Operating Procedures are consistent with operational processes.
